Yao Hua Ooi is a Portfolio Manager at Capula Investment Management LLP where he does systematic investing. Prior to Capula, he was a Principal at AQR Capital Management, where he served as Co-Head of the Macro Strategies Group, leading research and portfolio management across a broad suite of systematic strategies that included macro, multi-strategy, and managed futures products.

Yao Hua’s research has appeared in leading academic and industry journals including the Journal of Financial Economics, Journal of Portfolio Management, Financial Analysts Journal, and Journal of Investment Management. He was named 2013 Alternatives Fund Manager of the Year by Morningstar for his work on managed futures and shared the 2013 Whitebox Prize for his research on time series momentum, highlighting his impact on both practitioners and academic communities.

Yao Hua earned dual B.S. degrees in Economics and Engineering from the Jerome Fisher Program in Management and Technology at the University of Pennsylvania, graduating summa cum laude.
